Thomson Welcomes Inverurie Demand Responsive Transport Pilot Scheme

Published date : 17 August, 2021

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has welcomed the launch this week by Aberdeenshire Council of a new Demand Responsive Transport pilot scheme in Inverurie.

The ‘Ready2Go Around Inverurie’ scheme sees five brand-new wheelchair-accessible minibuses operating six days a week between 6.30am and 7.30pm (7.30am to 6.30pm on Saturdays) with customers able to book at any time using an app or by telephone.  The service will also connect to some of the main transport hubs in the area including Inverurie, Insch and Kintore railway stations to help improve onward travel opportunities.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“Rural transport and connectivity is a big issue and this pilot scheme certainly has the potential to transform how local bus services can best serve the population.

“However, it is at this stage a pilot scheme and the results will have to be studied carefully to ensure there are no unintended consequences.  I wish the scheme success and will look forward to seeing the outcome in due course, which I hope will be something which can be built on to deliver for other rural communities.”
