Thomson Keen to Encourage Lottery Applications as Groups Across Gordon Get Funding Boost

Published date : 06 September, 2021

Community groups and organisations in Belhelvie, Leslie and Tarves are set to benefit from lottery funding.

Welcoming the funding awards, local MP Richard Thomson congratulated the organisations and said he is keen to encourage more applications form local groups to get more lottery money coming to Gordon Constituency.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“I am delighted for the groups and organisations concerned.  These are substantial awards which can make a real difference to their local communities.

“However, I am keen to encourage more applications for lottery funding from local groups.  In the period from April 2018 to December 2020, Gordon Constituency received just under £490,000 of lottery money.  This compares poorly with constituencies like Moray (£898,324) and Angus (£1,056,074).

“I’m therefore keen to look at ways of encouraging more funding applications from community groups and organisations to take advantage of what’s available and ensure that North-east communities benefit as a result.  As a first step, I am happy to provide a letter of support for constituted groups who are making or considering making funding applications.

“Meantime, I wish the groups in Belhelvie, Leslie and Tarves well with their projects.”
