Published date : 28 February, 2022

Local MP Richard Thomson has welcomed the news that We Are INverurie – the Inverurie Business Improvement District (BID) team have indicated their intention to ballot for another term.

We Are INverurie agreed to progress to re-election at the end of their inaugural five-year term with a proposed ballot date of 23 June 2022.

Welcoming the news, Richard Thomson MP commented:

“Ultimately, this will be a decision for the traders and businesses within the Inverurie BID area, but I very much welcome the news that We Are INverurie will be submitting themselves to a ballot for another term.

“The BID team have undertaken a number of very worthwhile projects and initiatives including new Christmas lights and switch-on, a Wedding Weekend, INtune INverurie Music weekend and the Pride of Inverurie Awards.

“The BID has also subsidised the provision of hand sanitising stations, provided business training for first aid, customer care, food hygiene and social media, arranged hanging baskets and planters and undertaken extensive business promotion and marketing campaigns for Inverurie in general.

“Town Centres need to have the ability to co-ordinate their activities and promote their attractiveness to a wider audience, particularly at this time and in this age of online marketing.  I wish the BID team well going forward.”
