Gordon MP Richard Thomson visited the Friday sale at Thainstone Mart last week and met with members of ANM Group’s board for a discussion on current issues last week.
Mr Thomson was invited by ANM Group Chief Executive Grant Rogerson after tabling a Motion in the Westminster Parliament marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of what is now Aberdeen and Northern Marts.
Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:
“The North-east has been an area where, for centuries, livestock rearing and marketing has been a source of pride, prestige and considerable financial investment and Aberdeen and Northern Marts have long been an important part of that.
“ANM Group are now a highly-successful farmer-owned business which has been responsible for the development of modern auction centres, the pioneering of electronic and video auctions, diversification into non-agricultural auctions and high-quality catering and hospitality.
“It was great to hear of the plans for marking the group’s anniversary with a number of charity initiatives and also catch-up on issues in agriculture at the moment. I wish the team at ANM every success in this, their 150th year.”
