Thomson Highlights New Fund Available to Village Halls and Community Facilities
Gordon MP Richard Thomson has highlighted a new fund available to village halls, community hubs and other facilities to support communities to engage with, participate in and benefit from the energy transition to net zero emissions.
The new Let’s Do Net Zero Community Buildings Fund, part of the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) will help community organisations reduce their building energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions by installing renewable technologies such as heat pumps.
Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:
“Grant funding is available for up to 80% of eligible costs up to a maximum of £80,000 and is planned to run until the end of March 2025, subject to funding availability.
“Applicants must be constituted non-profit distributing community organisations, including organisations with charitable status, that are established and operating across geographically defined communities or faith groups.
“At a time of rising energy costs, this scheme could help community facilities achieve a win-win both in terms of reduced energy costs and also helping reduce the impact on the environment.”
