MP Highlights Scottish Gas Energy Trust Funding Support Available

Published date : 30 August, 2022

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has highlighted a source of support available to Scottish Gas customers who may be struggling with domestic bills in light of the energy price cap increases.

Centrica has announced that it will donate 10% of Scottish Gas Energy profits to help their customers struggling with domestic bills.  This commitment will stay in place “until the energy crisis is over”.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“While we continue to wait for the UK Government to decide how it intends to support people in light of the most acute cost-of-living crisis for decades, this announcement from Scottish Gas is welcome.

“The Scottish Gas Energy Support Fund is already supporting households with grants of up to £750 and this additional funding announced will ensure more people can benefit from the help on offer.

“An independent charity, the Scottish Gas Energy Trust will award this new funding and ensure it is targeted at customers who need it most.  Grants are expected to average £750 for every household supported and will go to thousands of customers most in need.  The fund will open from mid-September.”

Scottish Gas customers with energy debt could get a no strings grant to help get ahead.  More info here: bit.ly/BGET_grant
