MP Welcomes Take-off of New Aberdeen Airport to London Route

Published date : 03 November, 2022

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has welcomed the inaugural flight this week on the new Aberdeen to London route.

British Airways will be operating flights to London City Airport and the SNP MP hopes this can be a first step to ensuring the route can be re-established on a permanent basis.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“It’s good to see this new service taking-off which provides a new and important link between the North-east and Central London.

“Whilst always mindful of our carbon footprint, I believe this additional route is necessary and, indeed, have had correspondence from constituents since the end of the lockdown period who had concerns at the current reliability of services between Aberdeen and Heathrow.  The additional capacity brought by these London City flights will go some way to address those concerns and I hope that this route can once more become a regular feature on Aberdeen’s flight timetable.

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport said:

“Routes like London City are important to help drive the economy connecting the business community to key markets and it is great to see these winter flights taking off.”
