Richard Thomson MP has met with representatives of the Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) in Westminster.
Members of AIC's policy team held valuable meetings with government and a range of Scottish MPs to discuss the vital role that the agri-supply industry plays in sustainable food production.
AIC's Scottish Policy Manager Ian Muirhead met with Mr Thomson along with Angus MP Dave Doogan and Stirling MP Alyn Smith.
Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:
“Input costs, such as the huge increase in fertiliser prices, were major factors in 2022 and we enter 2023 with fertiliser continuing at record high price levels.
“This was a very useful opportunity to be briefed by the AIC on the key challenges and opportunities for the agriculture industry, including the energy crisis, fertiliser costs, food security, supply chain disruption and sustainability.”
