Local MP to Host Cost-of-Living Advice Event in Inverurie

Published date : 27 January, 2023

Gordon MP Richard Thomson is holding a special Cost-of-Living Advice event in Inverurie to provide specialist support in reducing energy bills and accessing benefits.

The event will be held on Friday 10 February and run from 12.00pm to 4.00pm in Inverurie Town Hall.

Mr Thomson says the current squeeze on household incomes will force many people to make some difficult choices and represents the 'single biggest challenge' facing families today.

He said the event will bring constituents face to face with organisations who can help them navigate the difficult times ahead.  Among those organisations attending providing expert advice will be Centrica/Scottish Gas, Social Security Scotland, Home Start Garioch, NW Aberdeenshire Citizens’ Advice, Family Fund, Home Energy Scotland and North Aberdeenshire Foodbank.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

"No one in Scotland today should have to contemplate the harsh choice of putting on the heating or feeding their children.  That is completely unacceptable and it's essential that people across Gordon Constituency are given the correct information and are signposted to groups that can help.

"This is about what measures can be taken to help support people and families through the difficult times currently being faced.

"People need support in the here and now, and some of the organisations that will be part of this event can help with that."

No appointment is necessary, and people are encouraged to drop-in.  However, for those who would prefer, appointment slots are available and a private interview room is available.  To book an appointment, please contact [email protected], or call on 020 3545 2236.
