MP Highlights Funding Opportunity for Sustainable Community Projects

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has highlighted a funding opportunity of up to £30,000 for local community groups.  

Vattenfall’s ‘Unlock Our Future’ fund is now open for applications from projects in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire with a deadline of 17 April 2023.  

The fund supports projects which contribute towards the following objectives:   

  • contribute to a climate smarter world with sustainability at its core   
  • invest in community facilities and activities that are fit for the future and are environmentally sustainable, especially community spaces and transport   
  • support creative solutions   
  • ensure a legacy and lasting impact, which clearly brings benefit to the local community   

There are two levels of award available: small grants up to £2,000 and large grants of up to £15,000 in a single year with the possibility of up to £30,000 for projects running over three years.   


Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:  

“Sourcing funding for community projects can be a challenge so I’m happy to help highlight Vattenfall’s fund which is aimed specifically at projects which are environmentally sustainable and help address climate change.  

“I’m grateful to Vattenfall for making this funding available and would encourage local groups and organisations who think they may benefit to make an application before 17 April.”
