Thomson Gives Backing to Foster Care Fortnight

Published date : 16 May, 2023

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has given his backing to Foster Care Fortnight and has praised the work done by local foster carers.

Foster Care Fortnight™ is the UK’s biggest foster care awareness raising campaign, delivered by leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network.  Established in 1997, the campaign showcases the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers.  It also supports fostering services to highlight the need for more foster carers.

Running from Monday 15 May - Sunday 28 May 2023, the theme this year is  #FosteringCommunities.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“Foster Care Fortnight takes place each year and is a great opportunity to highlight the amazing work that is done by foster carers and to thank them for their work.  It is a chance to recognise the contribution of foster carers to the lives of care experienced babies, children and young people, as well as encouraging people to think about fostering.

“Thousands of new foster families are needed every year to care for children, with the greatest need locally being for foster carers for older children and sibling groups.

“I’m delighted that members of Aberdeenshire Council’s Fostering Service will have a stall at Newburgh Gala on Saturday 27 May to raise awareness and wish them a successful day.”
