Gordon MP Visits Royal Mails Delivery Service

Gordon MP Visits Royal Mails Delivery Service

Published date : 20 December, 2023

Gordon MP Richard Thomson paid a visit to Inverurie Royal Mail Delivery Office this week to see how it manages to get all our parcels, cards and letters to our loved ones in time for Christmas.

Each December, the office deals with four times the amount of mail it usually handles. The Inverurie sorting office covers the corridor from Kemnay to Aboyne, so battling freezing weather on hilly country roads is second nature to the posties.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“At this time of year in particular, Royal Mail staff help all of us keep in contact with our loved ones.

“I know how valued a letter or card can be to someone who lives alone and the staff here deserve our thanks for their hard work in organising deliveries.

“Postal staff do such an important job at this time of year and I thank all of them across Gordon Constituency for their efforts and wish them all the best over the busy festive period.”

The MP was also given an update on how the organisation is meeting the challenges of the climate crisis.

 He said:

“I was fascinated to learn how the Royal Mail is tackling its carbon footprint and transitioning to trains and hydrogen powered vehicles.  It’s good to see large scale operations such as the Royal Mail taking action in this regard.”
