GORDON MP WELCOMES SCOT GOV MOVE TO EXTEND OFF-PEAK RAIL FARES

Published date : 17 May, 2024

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has welcomed the announcement by the Scottish Government that that the off-peak fares all-day trial will be extended until 27 September 2024.

The move means cheaper rail fares will be available for longer as part of a trial to determine how many new journeys have been made on rail and whether passengers have switched from car to rail.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:

“This extension of all-day off-peak fares means that passengers will continue to benefit from cheaper and simpler fares, and I hope will encourage more people to travel by train.

“Whilst the scheme is being used to gather data on how the changes affect passenger numbers, it’s also a very welcome boost to regular travellers who will benefit from cheaper fares for longer and helps household budgets during Westminster’s cost-of-living crisis.”
