SNP ONLY PARTY OFFERING ESCAPE FROM BREXIT WITH INDEPENDENCE

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has said "securing independence, and regaining Scotland's place in the EU, is key to boosting our economy" - amid warnings the UK is set for five years of lost economic growth.

The National Institute for Economic and Social Research (Niesr), which is one of the UK's oldest economic forecasting bodies, said that Brexit, Covid and the Ukraine war had badly affected the economy, resulting in five years of "lost" growth, increased income inequality, and meant there is a 60% chance of a recession in 2024.

Commenting, SNP International Trade spokesperson Richard Thomson MP said:

"Brexit has been a disaster for Scotland and the North-east.  It has cost us billions of pounds, caused long-term damage to economic growth and hit families in the pocket, as the cost of living in the UK soars.

"Securing independence, and regaining Scotland's place in the EU, is key to boosting our economy.

"The Conservatives and the pro-Brexit Labour Party are part of the problem.  Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer are taking the UK on a path to long-term decline, low economic growth and permanently higher living costs by imposing Brexit against Scotland's will.

"At the next election, voting SNP is the only way to secure independence, escape Westminster control and build a stronger, wealthier economy at the heart of Europe."
